The Punchbowl Inn
A country pub in the heart of Surrey

Close to the A29 Billingshurst road 7 miles south of Dorking, the Punchbowl Inn started life in the 16th century as a classic Hall House. It later became two cottages before being converted into a tavern in the early 19th century.

Behind its tile-hung exterior under a Horsham stone roof, the large bar/dining area has flagstone floors, original beams, a broad inglenook fireplace and pew benches. A separate dining room, cosy and candlelit, is an intimate spot for enjoying a meal. Outside is a paved area with seating and a lawned garden that is child and dog-friendly.

Wendy and Phillip Nisbet took over the pub in 2001, having run the Cider House at Shackleford. They have made the Punchbowl Inn one of the most popular pubs in the area. The dishes on the menu, all home-cooked, include both traditional pub favourites and some more unusual options. Your meal ends in fine style with a choice of delicious home-made desserts.
